  • Heavy Duty 13-Piece Cast Aluminum Cajun Cookware Set (or a heavy-bottomed pot)
  • Vegetable Peeler
  • Sharp Chef’s Knife
  • Sturdy Spoon or Spatula

Ingredients

  • 3 Pounds Russet Potatoes peeled and cut into 1″ pieces
  • ½ Cup Unsalted Butter
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Black Pepper
  • Water just enough to cover potatoes

Instructions

  1. After peeling the Russet potatoes and cutting them into uniform 1-inch pieces, add them to a small-to-medium heavy-bottomed pot. Pour in just enough cold water to cover the tops of the potatoes.

  2. Place the ½ cup of unsalted butter directly on top of the potatoes in the pot.

  3. Turn the heat to high and bring the pot to a rolling boil. Once boiling, immediately reduce the heat to medium-low to maintain a gentle simmer (a low roll). Stir in the 2 teaspoons of salt and ½ teaspoon of black pepper. Continue to cook, stirring often, for about 20-25 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender and the liquid has cooked down, thickening into a rich, luscious potato “gravy.”
